Meeting with Synergos Global Philanthropists Circle Coordinator

Ramallah, Palestine, 9 – 10 September 2007

The Universal Education Foundation (UEF) – Education By All for the Well-Being of Children – has been a partner of the Synergos Institute since 2007. In preparation for a high level delegation from Synergos’ Global Philanthropists Circle chaired by Ms. Peggy Dulany, the daughter of David Rockefeller, which will visit the Middle East in late November 2007, Ms. Helen Knapp, the program officer, came on a preparatory visit to Israel, Palestine and Jordan. UEF contributed to organizing a program so that Ms. Helen Knapp could visit several sites of interest and hold talks with UEF partners in order to prepare the most suitable program for the delegation.

In Ramallah, UEF and the team of the major local partners met with Ms. Knapp and discussed key issues and possibilities for the visit. Dr. Marwan Awartani, Secretary-General of UEF emphasized that the group should be exposed to the real life issues in Palestine as well as having an opportunity to talk to Palestinian youth. The visits should keep in mind programs that emphasize the vision of “Education By All For the Well-Being of Children” as a means of targeting the objectives of Synergos. During the meeting, suggestions for cooperation between the organizations were discussed. All suggestions will be taken into consideration to finalize a program for a two day visit to Palestine for the delegation in November.
