International Partnerships Network
The International Partnerships Network (IPN) is the leading worldwide agency promoting interaction between businesses, communities, education, and partnership organisations and networks to improve the quality of lifelong learning for children and adults of all backgrounds. It focuses on the exchange of best partnership practices, practical information and experience, and identifying research on education and community partnerships around the globe.
The IPN creates a comparative construct for business, education and community leaders with a global perspective on the issues related to the role of partnerships in making education work better at the local level. By gathering all voices, with one not being more important than another, the IPN helps businesses and other partners find ways to communicate and share multiple visions and perspectives of partnerships. While business and education are responsible as a group, the IPN nurtures the long-term goals of partnerships and champions a new science of engagement with businesses both large and small.
Since its formation in 1993, the IPN has assisted partnership practitioners on five continents to relate their local initiatives to similar programmes in other countries and to develop insights and perspectives. The IPN engages its business and education partners in the planning and implementation of programs and projects that nurture exploration of the meanings and modalities of partnership and their application in a range of different socio-economic settings. These include:
- Leadership Events that bring managers and practitioners for roundtable discussions and seminars that focus on topics central to forging stronger partnerships.
- Partnerships Learning Weeks that invite partners for an in-depth examination of issues that encourages the use of partnerships to make education work better at the local level.
- Biennial International Conferences that provide a forum for sharing best practices and experience-based insights on partnerships from all corners of the globe.
- Global Best Awards that recognize best partnership practices.
- Policy Forums that explore topics of current worldwide importance.
- Partner Projects that facilitate bringing partners together for joint planning, implementation and evaluation of projects that strengthen education at the local level.
- Consultancies that engage IPN partners in providing consulting services to partners.
- Publications and Web Site that capture and disseminate the latest in thinking and experience on what makes partnerships work and how to make them work better for all stakeholders.
IPN partners share a common commitment to improve access and add quality to learning developed and supported through partnership efforts and include corporate management and social responsibility officers, university leadership, education practitioners and planners, leadership development and training specialists, NGO staff and long-time partnership advocates.
